Great news for Indian youngsters as UK and India have signed an ambitious new migration partnership last spring, both British and Indian young professionals will be allowed to work and live in each other’s country for two years. As per the latest publications, Indian nationals will be able to apply from 1st January 2022.

Please keep in mind that, the Youth Mobility Scheme is intended for those applicants who are aged between 18 to 30 who desire to reside and get employed in the UK. The key advantage of the Youth Mobility scheme is that there is no need for employer sponsorship. So as to be entitled to a Youth Mobility Scheme visa, you need to be a national from a particular list of countries. From 1 January 2022, India and Iceland will be included in this list, with 3,000 primary slots to be allotted to India and 1,000 to Iceland. Indian nationals will be obligated to utilize the UK Home Office’s ballot process; same like the nationals of Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea already do, denoting that their chances of being chosen for the Youth Mobility Scheme will be at random

The following are the countries eligible for the scheme and the allocated visas.

  • Australia – 30,000 places
  • New Zealand – 13,000 places
  • Canada – 6,000 places
  • Japan – 1,500 places
  • Monaco – 1,000 places
  • Taiwan – 1,000 places
  • Hong Kong – 1,000 places
  • Republic of Korea – 1,000 places
  • San Marino – 1,000 places
  • Iceland – 1,000 places
  • India – 3,000 places

Indian nationals must submit an expression of interest in applying for clearance under the Youth Mobility scheme through the home office website. The home office then selects at random who will be invited for entry clearance from the list. In short, it is like winning a lottery. If you are lucky, you will be able to travel to the UK.
